Contact Financial Aid
We understand you have questions for financial aid! We can talk over the phone, schedule a zoom call with students and parents, answer questions through email or you can schedule an appointment. We encourage you to ask in any way that feels most comfortable to you, but please know most financial aid conversations do not need to happen in person. We ask that you only schedule an in-person meeting if it is truly necessary as we navigate this COVID-19 situation. If you have a scholarship check or a document to turn into our office, we have a secure drop box just outside our door located in the North Atrium of the Student Center (opposite end from the Bookstore).
Dropbox for Scholarship Checks
Scholarship checks need to be turned into the Financial Aid office to credit to your account. If your scholarship mailed the check to you, but it is made out to Mines, ensure your CWID is on the front of the check and put it in our secure dropbox located just outside our door in the North Atrium of the Student Center (opposite end from the Bookstore). If your scholarship check is made out to you AND Mines, ensure your CWID is on the front and sign the back before turning it into our office. You can also mail checks to our office: 1301 19th Street, Golden, CO 80401 and we will process it within a week of receipt. Please be sure you have reported all outside scholarships through Trailhead to assist with accurate processing of your scholarship.
Upload Required Documents
If you have outstanding requirements listed in Trailhead, you can upload those documents directly through the light blue box in the Financial Aid section of Trailhead (not self-service). Chrome is the best browser to upload required documents.
If you have other documents that you need to bring to financial aid, but either cannot upload them or prefer to bring them to our office, please ensure your CWID is legible on the front of the form and put it in our secure dropbox located outside our office in the North Atrium of the Student Center (opposite end from the Bookstore).
You may also mail documents to our office: 1301 19th Street, Golden, CO 80401
Speak to an Advisor
EMAIL: The fastest way to get an answer from a financial aid advisor is to email email@example.com. Our email is monitored by our Assistant Directors of Financial Aid so you will be corresponding with a financial aid professional. Be sure to include your CWID for accurate information. Emailing from your mymail.mines.edu account allows us to discuss specifics regarding your account.
ZOOM: While our physical office is only partially staffed, our full staff is working Monday through Friday and available to meet with you via a scheduled Zoom meeting. Request a meeting with an advisor and we can talk with you in real time about your questions. Using Zoom also allows students, parents, and staff to have a conversation together while maintaining social distance.
PHONE: If you’d like to ask a question in real time, you may call our office 303-273-3301 when our office is open. Mines Financial Aid expects to be in the office beginning August 3, 2020, Monday through Thursday, 8am to 4pm. The office will be partially staffed meaning not all advisors are available every day, but someone will be there to assist. Please allow at least 24 hours for a return call if you leave a message.
Schedule an In-Person Appointment
During the fall semester, our office has 15-minute appointments available by advanced reservation Monday through Thursday, 10am to 2pm beginning August 3, 2020. Visit our scheduling page to set up an appointment.
