Scholarship Information for Current Students
Current Mines students, who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, are considered for Mines scholarships.
Most scholarships require a student to pass a minimum of 24 credits each academic year (Fall plus Spring semesters) with a 2.500 or higher cumulative GPA. However, some, such as named (donated), athletic, or ROTC scholarships may have other requirements. If a student fails to meet the guidelines, scholarship eligibility will be lost. However, this may be appealed based on mitigating circumstances.
Students’ academic information may be provided to donors to assist with obtaining scholarships.
Adjustments to Scholarships
The CSM policy is that students may receive scholarships and grants up to tuition, fees and $1,000 for books and supplies. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for additional information of information specific to your situation.
Disbursement of Funds
Privately funded scholarships are processed for disbursement to the student’s account once donors send the check to the Financial Aid Office. Funds will be credited at the rate of one-half the yearly amount per semester unless otherwise designated by the donor. If other arrangements are necessary, the student or donor needs to contact the Financial Aid Office.
Per federal regulations, students who are awarded scholarships from any donor must notify the Financial Aid Office. To notify the Financial Aid Office of your outside resource(s), complete the following form. We can follow-up with the donor and be sure they have all the information they need to get your scholarship funds to us as soon as possible.
If you have received a need-based grant as part of your financial aid award, it may be reduced by your outside scholarship. Student loans and/or work study may also be reduced.
The Financial Aid Office has an Outside Scholarship Coordinator who communicates the latest scholarship opportunities with current CSM students via the Trailhead-Student Resources tab on a monthly basis. In addition, you can find information and links to scholarship search sites on the Outside Scholarship page.
